Career & identity coaching · for people leaving finance

You made the number. It didn’t make you.

Career and identity coaching for finance professionals stepping out of banking, trading, or markets — from someone who sat at the desk for years before he did this work.

Why Philippe

He sat where you're sitting.

Philippe didn't read about this world — he worked in it. Years in institutional finance, banking and the trading desk, before he left and rebuilt his own sense of self on the other side. He has stood exactly where you're standing: the number gone, the next chapter unwritten. That's the ground this work comes from.

Philippe Wagner

For years, the number told you who you were. It was brutal and honest — you hit it or you didn't, and either way you knew exactly where you stood.

Now the desk is behind you, by choice or by force, and the number is gone. What's left is the question the P&L never made you ask: who are you when no one's keeping score?

And there's nowhere obvious to take that question. The people around you still see the title; the few who might understand are the last people you'd let see you unsure. So it stays unspoken — which is exactly what this work is for.

This isn't about your next move. It's about the self that makes it.

Is this you?

This work tends to fit when one of these is quietly true.

  • You made partner, or made your number, and still can't say who you are without it.
  • A desk got eliminated, a team got cut — and the ground moved out from under you with it.
  • You're choosing to leave, and quietly afraid of who you'll be once the title isn't yours.
  • The bonus stopped meaning what it used to — and that's not something you can say out loud where you currently sit.

What this actually is

Structural identity work — felt in the room.

This is structural identity work — changing how you experience yourself, not just managing how you behave. It sits between therapy, which treats what's broken, and motivational coaching, which sets goals and habits. It does neither. It works at the level of who you take yourself to be — and you feel it shift in the room, usually by the second or third session.

What changes

What's different afterward.

  • You stop pricing your worth in the one currency the desk taught you to count.
  • You walk into the next room — the new venture, the board seat, the dinner table — as a person, not a former title.
  • The decision about what comes next stops feeling like freefall and starts feeling like yours.
The path

Simple to start. No long contract to find out.

In their words

A few notes from the work.

Most of the work is invisible. These are the parts that surfaced.

My sense of self-worth changed at the level of my identity — I no longer play at being self-assured, it simply rests in me. Philippe met me where I was and guided me, gently and at my own pace, to where I wanted to be.

I'd hit every number and still felt like I was running someone else's life. We rebuilt it from the identity up — the title stayed, but it finally belongs to me.
